BREAKING: Georgia district defends offering kids porn, claims it "promotes intellectual freedom"
After a great win for students and families in Cobb County, we reached out to Savannah-Chatham County Public School System for comment about the sexual and pornographic themed books they provide to their students.
Let’s take a look at some examples from the books they’re offering students. “Blankets" depicts a young boy watch his little brother get raped by a pedophile.
“Gender Queer” is another pornographic book offered for students that we included in our email. The book shows depictions of oral sex, masturbation, and promotes chest binders and sex toys.
Later that day we received a response from Sheila Blanco, the public information manager for the district. She claimed offering kids porn “promotes intellectual freedom” and provides “access to a variety of information, ideas, and resources.”
If a minor student needs “ideas” on oral sex positions, this school district has you covered! Need “resources” on how pedophiles target children? The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System has your back! It’s just “intellectual freedom!”
If a parent doesn’t want their kid to read these books, they have to make a special request through the school. Why should parents have to do that? Why is porn even being offered in public schools? Allowing pornagraphic materials to be viewed by children in any school should never be defended.
If you have a child in this district, Code of Conduct Page 15 says you may block your child from checking certain books. To do so, just call your local school and alert the media center.
If a parent would like to challenge the material from an entire school, you can bring up your complaint via this link for Principal review and resolution.
