High school students taught anti-racist advocacy in math class
Meanwhile, their math proficiency is below the national average.
Teachers in Jefferson County Public Schools were given training on a “culturally responsive strategy,” which directed teachers on how to inject wokeness into the curriculum. Residents were made aware and submitted a FOIA request for the materials which revealed troubling information.
Part of the professional development training included a presentation on “anti-racist” math. “What on earth does math have to do with social justice?” you may be asking yourself. Well, we aren’t exactly sure, but we will attempt to figure it out.
The presentation was titled, “Coaching and teaching anti-racist math at the high school level.” In other words, woke math.
“Math lessons that focus on understanding social and racial injustice are an important piece of the broader struggle for justice,” the presentation read.
They also instructed teachers to game plan a response for parents who complain.
Teachers were presented with a chart (below) that shows which media sources are good and which are bad. Coincidentally, all mainstream conservative media was labeled hyper-partisan or “utter garbage.” Outlets such as NPR, AP, Reuters, USA Today, Washington Post, and NY Times—all blatantly partisan Left-wing media outlets—were labeled mainstream, factual, and trustworthy.
The final slide says that teachers and students can use these skills to “get started on a journey of advocacy.” This district apparently thinks parents are sending their kids to school to learn advocacy and not geometry in math class.
It’s worth noting that math proficiency in Jefferson County is below the national average. I wonder why!
A resident who was involved in obtaining the FOIA documents told Libs of TikTok, “In a district where students from every racial group have struggled to achieve proficiency in math since at least 2009, it’s alarming that the administration would focus on ‘anti-racist math’ rather than best practices for teaching all students math.” I couldn’t agree more.
Why are kids learning “advocacy” and “social justice” in—checks notes—MATH class? What happened to plain old addition and subtraction like we all learned when we were in school? This is all part of a broader agenda to inject CRT into curriculum. DeSantis banned dozens of math books for this exact reason. The Left is so desperate to push their radical, progressive agenda onto our kids that they have now poisoned math class. So if you don’t live in Florida, make sure you know what your kids are being taught because these days, you just never know.

I finally subscribed to Libs of Tik Tok based on this article. That chart showing NPR as non biased news made me spew my coffee on my keyboard! We MUST defund NPR -- not a conservative bone in their body. I notice CNN is "mostly noise" (they nailed it there). And the NYT (which I subscribe to at $4/month into my email) is so dripping with bias left, and a source of so much negativity, they should go under. To that effect, I highly recommend you subscribe to the podcast HONESTLY, with the brilliant Bari Weiss (who defected from NYT and exposes them for the far left publication they are). She illustrates journalism and dialogue as it should be conducted.
This is happening in the whole state of CA - the draft CA math curriculum framework incorporates political and gender ideology and is an exemplar of woke math. Less than 40 % of CA students are proficient in math, and these woke math proposals have already failed after implementation at SFUSD, but they press on.
